LIT2000 Romantic Poetry Analysis Paper

All working in nearly the same epoch, Romantic poets often needed a way to distinguish themselves from the rest. Part of that same collection of poets, George Byron needed to take many traditional Romantic aspects to a new level; in doing so, Byron creates his own subtype known as the Byronic hero (Glanville 1). Drawing on self-inspiration, Byron creates anti-heroes in his own image—as with many other Romantic poets, Byron also bases many of his characters on contemporary characters in the French Revolution like Napoleon Bonaparte (Glanville 1). Keeping that in mind, George Byron utilizes various romantic features to craft the eponymous character Manfred for which the poem “Manfred” is named after.
